Gadgets that are designed to assist the vision-impaired would be thoughtful!. For instance, I gave my grandmother one of those Audabon bird clocks that chirped on the hour!. Eventually, she learned to distinguish the bird sounds & know what time it was without looking!.
Clocks or telephones with large dials & numbers might be helpful, too!.
Books on tape/CD with a player would be nice as well!.

I was blinded in a terrorist attack when I was 10 for 2 months and all I really liked was my dog!. Just knowing someone/something is always there for you is the perfect gift!. I also had a small locket that was my my mothers (she died) which wasn't worth any money but means the world to me!.
