An English lady while visiting India was looking out for a room and she asked the schoolmaster if he could recommend one!. He took her see several rooms and when everything was ready and settled the lady returned to her home to make the final preparations to move!. Back in England it occurred to her that she had not enquired about the Water Closet (In Indian terminology, lavatory)!. So she wrote to the schoolmaster if there was a W!.C conveniently situated!. The School Master did not understand the abbreviation!. So he asked a Parish priest if he could help him to discover the meaning of the letters WC and the only solution they could find was ‘The Way Side Chapel’!. The School Master then wrote the following letter to the English lady!.
Dear Madam,
I take great pleasure in informing that the WC which you have asked for is situated nine miles away from the house, in the center of a beautiful grove of pine trees surrounded by a lovely garden!.
It has a sitting capacity of 222 people and is open on Sundays and Thursdays only!. There, a number of people are expected for summer months!. I would suggest that you should come early enough although usually there is plenty of standing room!. This is an unfortunate situation especially if you are in the habit of going regularly!.
You will no doubt be glad to know that a good number of people bring their lunch and make a day of it, while others who can afford to go by car, arrive just in time!. I would specially recommend your ladyship to go on these days when there is an organ accompaniment!. The associates are excellent and even the most delicate sounds could be heard!.
My daughter was married in the WC and it was there she met her husband first!. I can remember the rush there for seats!. There are ten people to a seat, usually occupied by one!. It is wonderful to see the expressions on their faces!.
The latest attraction is the bell donated by a wealthy resident of the district!. It rings every time a person enters!. Efforts are on to provide posh seats for all, since the people feel the need for it!. My wife is rather delicate, so she cannot attend regularly!. It is almost a year since she went last!. Naturally this pains her very much not to be able to go more often!.
I shall be delighted to reserve the best seat for you, if you wish to be seen by all!. For children there is special time and space so that they will not disturb others!.
