Ripped off by a company who subscribes magazines.?

Almost a year ago, I received a call from CRC of Southern California who is now Worldwide Preferred Publisher's Service located in Redondo Beach. They offered to subscribe me in a number of magazines for a fee and said that I would be able to cancel. Now I am still trying to cancel that account and they won't let me because they claim they have a recorded phone message of me agreeing to their terms. I read about the Florida Consumer Protection Law and how it is not legally binding unless a contract had been signed. I have yet to see the conract. I asked them for a copy and have not received it. I have paid more than half already but I feel ripped off and I'm tired of those magazines filling up my mailbox.

I'm afraid that if I stop paying them, they will report it to a collector company, and I do not want that on my record. Is there anyone who has an idea of how to get this company off my back?

Well - a couple of things. One - they cannot hold you to the supposed recorded phone message. If they do - tell them you want the recorded messages of you asking to cancel - which is your legal right.

Two - the company has to pay the magazines up front - so they lose money. That is their ONLY concern - not your happiness, so your other option is to ignore their crap. You cannot go to collection on this - magazines are NOT recorded to the 3 major credit bureaus. ( You could always send them a registered letter too).

Three - you can let one or all of the magazines know what is going on. I am not familiar with this company and I have never worked with them. They sound very disreputable. When they pull up your record, the will see who the order cleared through, then they can call that company and find out the origin of the order and cut them off.....
