Question:

Did anyone on here read "Sassy" magazine in the 90s and, if so, why was it so speacial to you?

I just finished reading a whole book dedicated to the rise and fall of the late, great magazine and it was really interesting. The mag folded by the time I reached high school, but I had 2 older sisters who read it so it was around the house. The people featured in there were exactly the people I wanted to become as an adult; cool, defiant, smart, funny. I didn't realize at the time but Sassy had a large male and adult audience as well because it was so hip. They discovered Chloe Sevigny and Spike Jonze to name a few and really made indie rock cool and relevant to pop culture. I think it had such an impact on bringing counter culture to the masses. To me, it meant there was an option besides being a dumb cheeseball in high school in my uncool suburban town. Any readers out there?!!!! Why was it so speacial to you and to the 90s (I feel old)?

Answers:

I use to read it in grade school at my aunt's house. I think it was my first fashion magazine. I remember looking for it when I got older and couldn't find it. Was kinda bummed. It was a good magazine.
