Do you think that girls are consumed by the ideas that media feeds them?
Most girls can tell you every major magazine that is printed for them and who is going to be featured. When you open these magazines they contain three main facets: make-up, boy advice, and clothing. I find it perfectly fine that girls are a little fixated when young just like guys are fixated on sports, cars, and girls at the same age. But I feel repulsed by the fact that in a magazine of almost 170 to 300 pages there isn't hardly more then five pages on average that pertains to something going on in the international arena that relates to more than being thin or having the right look. Women all over the world are viewed as inferior and I guess from what we collectively are reading, I feel as though we might be deserving it being as girls and young women even nearing my age of twenty know more about Vogue's celebrity of the month then they do about political economy or history. How disturbing is this for you??
Answers:
Being shallow is easier than being aware of today's world. Make-up and clothing are more attainable than trying to fix world hunger or advocate peace.
