Consumer Reports?!

Question:

Consumer Reports?

How trustworthy do you think Consumer Reports is?

Answers:

I think they are very dependable (probably a 9 out of 10, but I give no one a 10)

They don't sell advertising in their magazine, books, and website.

And they will not accept donated products from manufacturers.

They keep all vendors at "arms length".

They explain how they test the products/services and how they arrive at their conclusions.

When I go to buy something - I use their recommendations but also adjust for "my case". Just finished painting a rental house and selling it - went to them to find the best paint to work with. Bought over 20 gals of paint - 3 types - they were right 100%.

Have bought 4 cars in last 12 years. I come up with 3-4 models I am thinking of, then check them to see if they have any warning on any of the models I selected. Are any of them BEST BUYS? Then, I find a car rental company - and rent one for a weekend and do my own testing.

I have never found them to be far off target in their recommendations. And I'm 54 - so I've been doing this for a while.
