Top professional models get paid a lot of money for posing for a magazine cover photo. If someone is a famous movie star and they pose for the cover - do they do this for free - to just get the publicity? or do the movie stars get paid, too? If so, how much - more than a professional model ? or less?

Contrary to popular belief models do not get paid a lot of money to be on a magazine cover. Those jobs are highly sought after because of the exposure the model gets, which often leads to huge contracts with cosmetic, clothing, or perfume companies. That is where the real money comes in.
When it comes to celebrities, I am not so sure. I think most of it is done as a promotional event for a movie or cd release or to promote a book, etc.
