Not usually. They will issue you a card which will have a new code.

I wouldn't have thought so. If it is damaged, yes. Think about it, if you have LOST your card and they give you a new one with the same number, fine. What happens when someone else finds your old card and decides to take out books on your card number and then never return them. This will be the point where you pay out goodness knows how much in fees or replacement costs for books. Get your old card and number canceled and get a new one.

I don't think they can replace it with the same number,i have lost mine a few time they just give me a new card.

This depends on the Library. Some libraries have the technology to "roll their own" library cards. Many however use pre-ordered cards with library card numbers pre-printed on them. The answer to your question depends on how your library handles this.

Either way, there's no loss of privilege, fines, or records because the account is easily transferable between numbers. The only inconvenience is if you memorized your library barcode for login purposes.
