If you're ever in a town with a large British expat colony, second-hand shops often have old magazines of this kind.

You will have to go to America and look for them. I have never seen old US issues in France.
In America, you will often find them for sell or trade at flea markets (marchés aux puces). Used book stores and thrift stores, such as Goodwill, sometimes have them.
Many people like to collect old issues of National Geographic magazine. For this reason, the very old ones are almost impossible to find now.
