Answers: Is there anywhere i can get work in the field?

Get as many subjects as you can take in with highers, but specifically, English, Media Studies and a language, if you have the time. More importantly, you could begin to learn shorthand, or speedwriting and keyboard skills.
Try your local newspaper office to get a feel of the energy and pace of a mag/ news environment!
Learn a special subject, perhaps art, fashion, or economics. This could be useful when you specialise. Good Luck!

Highers? What? You must be in the UK or something. Most journalism schools are geared towards performance. Writing well and knowing what you are talking about is the first step. The second step, the hardest, is submitting and getting noticed. This could go on for years before you get your chance!

No, you need to be a good writer, build a portfolio , be consistent, write them on time , and proof read them. then pitch ideas to mags and papers.
