Is there money in graphic design/magazine art work?!


Question: i have a question i would realy like to ask he he sounds like bob marly no seriously im 30 and im thinking about geting in to well i guess i would call it graphic design but not sure if that the correct title what i would like to get in to is graphic designs and layouts for magazines ie photo miniplation changing genral photo cleaning up and some art work editing in indesign and illustrator and photoshop general magazine work and not to sure where to start and what courses to do im form the uk and am looking to start on a foundation level as im very new at it any help anyone can give me would be wonderfull as there realy is no support that any of the universitys can offer they seem to all want to ease me onto there courses and i allways come away feeling that they where trying to convince me that that was the course for me hope someone can help anyways peace and merry crimbo...ps is it a hard area to get into are there jobs and is the money ok

Of course; there is money in virtually anything. You just have to find it. I would recommend you learn communication skills before anything else. For instance; a good two year associates degree, if they have something like that in the UK, that will give you a couple of English classes so you'll know where to insert periods. I don't care how good you are at something, in today's world, if you can't communicate effectively, you will not get very far.

Take a nice rounded year or two slate of classes that teach you the foundations of a liberal arts degree, then take some classes that break you into graphic design. See if you like it, and go from there.

This is sort of like the 13 year old kid saying he wants to grow up to be a CEO. Nice dream, but it takes a little more than that to accomplish it.
