Time magazine Man of the Year?!

Question: Time magazine's picks for Man of the Year have been stupid for a while now. This year obviously should've been General David Petraeus, last year should've been Muqtada al-Sadr, and 2001 should've been Osama bin Laden. But liberal bias made them pick Putin this year, cowardice made them pick Giuliani in 2001, and what I can only assume is overwhelming stupidity made them pick "you" last year.

Was there ever a time when Time's picks were respectable? When did they first get stupid? And what do you think the real picks should have been for every year since then?

Note that you can see their picks at:

I have much less of a problem with Putin than I do with runner up Al Gore. They have a complete lack of objectivity

I am blank in your question.

No there was not a time.
