Magazine help!!!!!?!
Question: Okay so I recently began to visualize a concept for a local magazine. Many brought up a lot of concerns and gave me discouraging advice……but guess what? Im still determined to make this dream for a magazine become a reality. I really feel people would benefit from its existence, but my question is where do I start??? I know magazines aren’t an easy 1-2step process and your done, but I need some “simple” guide lines to get me going there…. My magazines profits will “mostly” go to charity or an organization (mostly because we need to cover print costs) we focus on for that pat. Issue, so is there anyway I can use this to my mag advantage? I have a small team that’s still growing ,consisting of writers, photographers, graphic/layout designers & editors. What more do I need, im currently looking for, large printing services, finding out binding options, wanting to know how to sell ad space(heard giving clients a free trail can sometimes work) where to go to get model realse form ,copyrights,

What about approaching your local newspaper writers etc., and seeing if they can throw any light on the subject?
Why were people being discouraging towards you, I think thats mean of them!
You could have a look in your library, maybe someone in the reference section will be able to point you in the right direction.
There is another way too, which would involve you looking into the financial and other more 'serious' aspects of this idea and that involves having a word with your local job centre, job club, or whatever it is called nowadays. Theres also some schemes, at least there used to be, where you can put some money in, they will match it to the penny, then you go and do whatever you can and then once youve paid them back, all you make will be yours.
You could approach a bank and show them what you have in mind. You will HAVE to have some 'draft' type copies made of the item already if you are going for this, by the way.
Why not have a word with the people that manufacture the 'Big Issue'? See what they can help you with.
There really are a lot of people that you can get help from. If you just knew where to look.
Have you any idea of a local business that may be able to do some sort of sponsorship idea on you.? Or maybe back you financially on it. You can approach them if you have GOOD draft copies done already. They may help you as a tax write off.
Or you can put an ad in the local paper yourself looking for some sponsors or someone to back you
Or knock a few doors of business people in your area. Maybe go for those that you wouldnt mind including in the paper/magazine/whatever you decide, and if youve done your homework right and you really DO have a good idea, you will have them all knocking on YOUR door !!!

Well..... what is the magazine's major subject? If you guys can save up money you can get copyrights on the magazine title and the likes, or maybe you can get a large company to sponsor for you?
