A matter of personal opinion really. Some say he was, a really good band he played in. Personally, progressive rock/metal, or instrumental guitar players are my favourite, have a listen to Joe Satriani, or Steve Vai. Dream Theater kicks *** aswell.

Of course he was everyone can list a bunch of other guys all day but you ask some of the best in the industry and they cant hit notes that dime would all day long. Guys like Eddie van Halen and Zack Wylde both give him mad props and niether could hold a candel to his playing style.
