I would say contact human resources of the company, but the first thing you should do is talk to your career services counselor at your school (college) or a nearby community college career services counselor. He or she will know exactly what to do and can walk you through it step-by-step.
If you contact the company directly, I'd say compose a well-written cover letter explaining why you want the internship and why you think you're qualified. Submit that along with a professional phone call and an email to the person you spoke to. Make sure you receive a response. If you don't get a response within a week, call back. Let them know that you're serious about the job. If they ask for a phone interview, you've made a step in the right direction. But these people are busy and would rather not give you the time of day. Only the really determined and persistent get their attention. Don't give up until you get that interview!
