Freelance writing?!
Question: For as long as i can remember my dream job has been writing for a magazine.
When i was pregnant i started writing feel good, anecdotal pieces about my experiences & never stopped (I now have 3 children, 1 who has a serious illness & am pregnant with my fourth)
I have written about everything, every single aspect of day to day life.
My friends & family love to read them & they get passed onto there friends & family too.
I have written maybe one a fortnight for the past 7 years, so as you can imagine there is a lot!!
What i would really love to do is have these pieces published, in a parenting magazine. I know the exact magazine i would love to see them in & I’m positive they fit the general 'feel' of the MAG.
So how do i go about it? & how to i present my case in the best possible way, that won't get an immediate knock back? I realize my chances of getting a knock back are pretty high.
I have been a subscriber with this MAG & others like it for 7 years also, so i have every edition published.
I'm from Australia, not sure if that makes a difference?

My suggestion would be to write to one of the editiors of the magazine and tell them what you have. Tell them how you feel and what you would love to do. I would ask them how to go about doing this. All they can do is say no. Go for it!!!!!
Yes writing for magazines usually is not easy to 'get in', also an important thing to realise is that people usually are not interested in YOU as a person or in YOUR experiences unless you are some kind of specific 'Obvious expert' or a 'Celebrity'. They usually ARE interested in WHAT YOU KNOW.
In your case writing for a parenting magazine would probably qualify you as an 'Obvious Expert' although I really do think it would be helpfull if you also have frequent 'Guest Appearances' in some major tv-series for example :)
