!.!.!.to give enough time to work on them!

Editors have to commission the features, fact check them, sub them!.!.!. The editorial team have to trawl through image banks for images they might like to use, also contact favourite photographers directly - they then have to be sent the files, digitally, on disk or as trannies - then the selection process has to be whittled-down to which image can be say huge, or to suit the mood of the feature, perhaps it needs touching-up and you might use it/might not use it, depending on that!.!.!.

The designer then has to lay out the feature, the actual pagination of which maybe dependent upon sales for that particular issue (some months are slow, some features maybe more topical/relevant for a particular client!.!.!.) - so the designer does the layout, then the feature might get subbed again, more amends and corrections, then you need to confirm you've got all your hi-res images in and if relevant any other illustrations, and if you did have any retouching done on the images well you'll need to wait for them,!. at some point you'll be sent a decent hard copy to proof!.!.!.then at some point in your schedule you have to draw a line under it and sign the damned thing off!!!

!.!.!.!.then a few weeks past and the mag comes back with some random typo - dammit!!!
