As medium dave as mentioned computer active is excellent and everything is in layman and plain english terms it helped myself way back in feb 98 when it arrived !.
It does exactly what it says on the tin to coin a phrase lol!.

Computer Active is good - and if you subscribe, I think you get access to the back-issues, on their website
EDIT: and CA does, indeed, help you get the best out of what you have, with various tutorials, tips, et cetera!.
I don't buy it myself, as I already have an MSc in Computer Science, various industry qualifications, and so forth - but my father gets it, and I have a leaf through occasionally!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

All computer magazines are designed to get you (and other users) to buy bigger faster better whizzier computers!. Over 50% of their content is adverts!. They only review the newest stuff!. They do nothing to help you get the best out of what you have!.

just go on sites, there be plenty more info on the web and it doesn't cost a thing (apart from paying for the internet and stuff)
