Would I be able to get a job as a Production Editor on a magazine?!

Question: Would I be able to get a job as a Production Editor on a magazine!?
This isn't supposed to sound like a question posed to a clairvoyants crystal ball but I'd really like this type of job!. I've noticed some available but not sure how obtainable it would be for me!.
I work in the Finance industry, have completed a BTEC Journalism course, have completed an internship on a magazine and work experience at a local newspaper!. I would really like to know what would be the best course of training for me to take next!.!.!.

It's probably worth me mentioning I don't have a degree, but the credentials and skills mentioned in the ad are similar to the ones I have in my current role, albeit in Finance!.!.!.

Please help as my current job is soul destroying!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You should have a go and apply, but most likely you'd need some sub-editing experience first, as well as enough time working on magazines that you have a good working knowledge of the technical stuff that goes on in the background!.

A Production Editor would be expected to ensure the magazine gets made on time and to the correct specs and standards, and would be responsible for sorting out any issues that arise with writing, design and deadlines, as well as dealing with printers and other departments (depending on the size of the magazine in question)!. The Production Editor would also be directly responsible for managing any sub-editors!.

Your best bet for working your way towards a Production Editor role would be to sign up to some sub-editing websites/forums/agencies and send your CV and a covering letter out to a load of magazines that you'd like to work on!. If you can start picking up freelance shifts as a sub-editor you'll learn a lot about how magazines work, as well as a lot of the skills that would be essential for a Production Editor - tight writing and editing, a solid understanding of how magazines are made, and mastery of all the software and technology involved!. Experience is key in magazine publishing!.

I have no qualifications either but spent a number of years as a Production Editor at top UK publishing companies!. It took me years to get the necessary experience first though!. Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most likey not!. But, through time you can work your way up!. If not start your own magazine!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
