In the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility, Marianne reads!

Question:

In the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility, Marianne reads a passage or poem to Elinor...

I was wondering who wrote it or what book it's from. It goes like this:

"Is love a fancy or a feeling? No. It is immortal as immaculate truth. It is not a blossom shed as soon as youth drops from the stem of life for it will grow in barren regions where no water flow nor ray of promise cheats the pensive gloom."

It's so beautiful and I'd just like to know who wrote it...

Answers:

Here it is. BTW, I LOVE that movie!
