Why do new dvds skip for a second?

some new dvds i have , and watched once skip at one part towards the end, why is that? it can have no scratch at all, but still skips.

Answers:

its actually probably your DVD player and not the DVD. I used to use my PS2 to play movies until it started doing it and it was get progressively worse. A couple months later, my PS2 stopped reading anything correctly altogether and had an "disc read error message." The DVD player that I replaced it was started skipping towards the end after a couple years and one day it stopped reading discs as well. I think it has something to do with the laser alignment normally, but depending on the DVD player brand, it can be caused by various other problems. DVD players unfortunately aren't made to last forever which sucks. You can try taking your DVD player to a repair shop to get it cleaned/inspected or whatever, but I would recommend just getting a new one and make sure that you fully research the one you want to buy first. I learned after the fact that Panasonic DVD players are notoriously for crapping out shortly after the manufacturer warranty expires because they use a plastic piece inside of the spindle area that warps when it gets too hot and causes the misalignment. Even though Panasonic knows about it, they apparently refuse to make the part out of better materials and what not.
