Saw a movie on the TV a few years ago now, it was about a village where they had to walk miles every day to get there water, however the people in the village hear plans that a stream was being built near their village to provide more water to the south or something, but none of this water was to be diverted their way. Furious, the people from the village take it into their own hands to dig a channel themselves to link up their village, but the government comes down heavy own them and the film ends in a massacre. Powerful stuff, but I never caught the name of the film and would like to see it again and recommend to people. I saw it here in the UK on channel 4, think the movie might have been filmed in the 70's or early 80's.
