Why are people so hard on Cinderella?

It's just a movie, get over it. I happen to love that movie. I should also mention that it was NEVER made for children, the early Disney movies were actually made for grow-ups.

Nope, it's true, old cartoons were made for adults or at least all audiences, they weren't targeted specifically at kids.

obviously you people havn't watched as many interviews with the animators as I have (mom's a disney-oholic) They didn't make 'kid's' movies in the forties!

It is Castle Envy. Walt Disney did indeed create his company on the basis of creating a media for the entertainment of children. It was a passion of life for him. The reason he did 'water down' the fairy tales is so that they would get past the Hays Office (the self-censoring film agency). Disney also set the bar for achieving excellence in animation.
