For horror fans: Do you consider this films to be in the horror genre?!

For horror fans: Do you consider this films to be in the horror genre?

Do you consider films like Seven or Silence of the lambs to be horror films?? What about Psycho or the Dead Zone?? I mean all the elements are there (or most of them) but most people dont consider this films to be horror, maybe because they re good or believable, and the horror genre is related to the fantastic (and with crappy chessy movies by most people) i think any film that makes an effort to scare you could be consider horror, even if there are no monsters or ghosts... What do you think????

I'd say you'd be most likely to find "Silence of the Lambs" in the drama section of a video store. "Seven" could be drama/thriller. "Dead Zone" I don't know, but "Psycho" is generally considered horror, and the grand-daddy of all horror movies at that.
You're right, though. Most people do consider the genre as totally cheesy, with gratuitous gore and violence. The movies you mentioned definitely have horror elements, but also have something beyond those standards which I guess makes them fit better into other categories.
