How do you copy a movie from a DVD to your hard drive in XP.PRO?
Do you need a software program ? If so what is it? Im new to movie recording . I want to be able to put it on my hard drive then watch it from the hard drive.

Yes, you need a type of software commonly known, in the UK at least, as a 'DVD ripper'. There are many commercial (paid for) DVD rippers out there, but there are also a few free ones available. Basically, they read the DVD and convert the information into one or more files that your computer can read, like .mpg or .avi

Many video editing software packages also have DVD ripping built in, but most of these are quite expensive :-)
