Take DIE HARD. In the first place, you don't really need to remember what happened in DH 1, 2 or 3 in order to appreciate DH 4. You can't say that necessarily about Harry Potter. You need the previous movies in order to know who is who and why they're doing certain things. As for grudge 2, uh, well grudge 1 was disappointing so I'm not even interested in seeing 2. Maybe on free rental night where you rent one DVD and get to rent the 2nd for free.
Great action in Die Hard. I picked Die Hard to go see.
