Will DVDs be the death of the Movie Theatre?!

Question:

Will DVDs be the death of the Movie Theatre?

I was going to take the family to the movies this weekend but when I added up the $9.50 a pop for a ticket and the $16.00 for popcorn and soda, I ended up with a total of $54.00 for an hour and a half of entertainment and decided to wait for the DVD. With so many movies coming out on DVD within months of their theatrical release do you think that we might see the end of movie theatres?

Answers:

I think DVDs do hurt the film industry especially since they release them a lot quicker now.

However, movie theaters will never go away as its a form of entertainment and people want to get out of the house and have fun. A similar comparison is saying now that you can have great food delivered or prepared at the store then you won't go to a restaurant ever again.

Also, can you imagine being a teenager and not being able to go to the movies with your friends or on a date? I couldn't!
