Why did sonny die the way he did in the Godfather?
Every time I see the movie, I just do not understand why Sonny got ambushed. It was just on AMC a few days ago, so I will ask now. Maybe someone can clear this up for me.
Basically, why did Sonny get ambushed at the toll booth or whatever? Did the sister's husband set him up for that? That really seems to be the only logical explaination to me. And I was not entierly clear on who did it either..

yes, his brother-in-law set him up(remember he beat up the sister, and she called home, crying) they hit Sonny because he was the new don.
