I haven't seen the movie yet but I was reading a lot of reviews and people were upset because of the way christianity was portrayed or something like that. Well how exactly was it portrayed that people got offended? Please explain.

If it's the same as the orginial, theres a lot about racism and the misperceptions the 50s had about black people. Penny (Amanda Bynes) parents are very strict and bring a psychologist in to "save" her because she falls in love with a black man. I don't think anyone should be offened, everything works out in the end and lives happily ever after.
It's also good because it portrays a strong, larger girl as the main charaacter. It's a really good movie, which is why it got remade for our times. You can rent the orginial. Ricky Lake played Tracy Turnplat and Jerry Stiller (Ben Stiller's Dad) played her father.
