why didn't they go with the alternative ending with rogue not taking the cure?
will there be an x-men 4 film?

I don't know why they didn't use that ending. I think it would've made a better ending if Rogue had accepted her "gift" and came to terms with who she is. I also didn't like that so many characters were killed off, but I guess they're trying to let go of certain actors who wouldn't be willing to do a 4th movie.
They kept saying in the press that the 3rd movie would be the final one, but I don't believe that. Hollywood has gone mad with sequels, and as long as a franchise is making money, they're gonna keep cranking out movies. Besides, X-Men still has many more characters to introduce and storylines to touch on. Heck, the movie even ended with 2 clues to a sequel. At the end we see that Magneto's powers may be coming back, and after the credits it shows that the spirit of Xavier has taken over another man's body. I bet we see a sequel eventually. Currently, there's a lot of talking about doing a Wolverine movie and a Magneto movie.
