What do you think happened a month later in The Breakfast Club?
Between Claire and Bender... if they went out she became a little more like him, and he just stayed the same, but probably (or hopefully) not cheating on her.... or they didn't last.
Between Andrew and Allison, she probably showed up the next days looking how Claire showed her and Andy stayed with her and his friends all thought she was hot.
And with Brian, he probably just stayed being a nerd who said hi to them whenever he see them in the hallways.
That's what I think.

Answers:
In most situations like that, it seems that they would go back to their different cliques, but show a quiet respect towards each other for the rest of the time they are in contact with one another.
At least that is how it seems in most other clique-y type movies with similar situations. Occasionally they will transcend those boundaries, but not usually.
