Answers:

I just saw the incredible documentary "The Bridge" -- which follows an entire year of people killing themselves by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

With extensive interviews with family and friends of the dead, the film tries to answer some of the "why's" that come along with losing someone to suicide.

The matter of fact manner that many of the jumpers approach their demise (yes, we actually see quite clearly most of the people who jumped to their deaths in that 365 day period) is shocking. With only a few exceptions, there is nothing sensational or even jolting about their methods. Most simply climb over and jump.

The most amazing interview however is with a young man who SURVIVED jumping from the bridge.

The film certainly isn't for everyone and if you are planning on seeing it simply for the shock value of watching real people die, don't bother. This is not that kind of a film. This is a very compelling and heartfelt look at a phenomena as old as the bridge itself -- a piece of San Francisco history that few want to really acknowledge, but which they have to live with on an almost weekly basis.
