Movie- Can anyone tell me how we came to use this word?

I believe the proper name for a movie is "motion picture" right? But did we come to coin the term "movie"? Just wondering...how the word "movie" came to be? ha ha

How came up with the term "movie"

Just a guess, but the first kind of motion pictures were "tin- types" or pictures that moved so fast they gave a sense of "moving" -- hence, the variation of "movie" came to be!
