What subsidiary does New Line fall under? That will answer which format it will come out in.
Answers:
New Line is part of Time Warner. Owned by the same company that owns Warner Brothers (and Warners releases on both formats), but is run completely independent of Warner Brothers. New Line will release movies on Blu Ray and HD-DVD. It was announced this week that their first release will be the movie Hairspray (opening this week) and will be available on both formats.
New Line should start releasing some of its other titles after that, although I doubt you see anything on LOTR until 2008.
