Do musicians pay to have their songs featured in Guitar Hero?!

Question:

Do musicians pay to have their songs featured in Guitar Hero?

I thought they would be paid royalties to have their music in the game, but a friend of mine says that musicians are paying big bucks to have their songs be part of it. It makes sense, it's great advertising. Do you know who's getting paid for those songs and about how much?

Answers:

No musicians are getting paid for putting their songs on guitar hero...and getting paid even more if they do a master track for the game...and getting paid even more if they re-do the song specially for the game...the first Guitar Hero wasn't well known so they paid alot of money out and didn't get that great of bands...the Second brought some better bands and the gameplay changed a little...Now with the success of the Second, there are sooo many artists throwing their cap in the circle and wanting to get paid to put their songs on, on top of that many of the guitarists are going to be featured in Guitar Hero 3, Slash is pretty much the sponsor of the game...so you can see how big it is getting...but when it all boils down...they have to pay some money to use the songs or the people who make that game would have no problem being billionaires...
