Much of the sound you hear in movies, is recorded in a studio and synced up with the video...(dog bark, traffic, thunder, rain, slap, gunshots, screams, wind, crickets, a car door opening, door closing, walking in a hallway, paper shuffling in an office).

Very little sound that goes into a movie is recorded during the shoot....aside from actors voices...and even then..sometimes they are re-done in a studio to fix errors. The sound is always recorded seperately from the video shots, then they edit and sync it to the video in a studio.
