and i just want to ask what on earth was that all about then.
Answers:
The Passion of the Christ is the Death & Ressurection of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for the Sins of the world.
I watch that movie only on Good Friday, the day He was Crucified, Died and was Buried and view it in terms of First Person.
When you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you become a "new person". The old is passed away and the new person is created by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Your past sins are forgiven by His Blood.

Jesus really does change one's life for the better. Once you immerse yourself in walking with Him, life will still give you troubles but they become easier with Jesus.
