Is there a way to sell an idea for a movie to a production company without having a script?

I had a really cool dream last night that would make a perfect horror movie, but I don't have time to write a script as I'm in the middle of a book right now. can I sell just the idea to a production company?

also, let's assume that I get it signed on paper that the idea was mine, and that there is no way for them to rip me off.

You could do an outline. Thats just a very brief plot outline with maybe some more detailed notes on major characters .

The studio would still have to get a script made but you might get some money for it if its a good idea.
