Do you ever psycho-analyze characters in movies? Which character or characters i!

Question:

Do you ever psycho-analyze characters in movies? Which character or characters interrested you most?

For example, I watch the DIE HARD movies and can see why Bruce Willis' character, John McClane, has an ex-wife and kids who don't like him sometimes. I see anger management problems and "black & white" thought processes, how he takes everything personal and makes everything personal. I see tenacity but also see loyalty and self-sacrifice. Just an example.

Answers:

I'm a big fan of psycho-analyzing the villians in movies. I wouldn't even know where to begin!! I thought Carl Stargher in The Cell, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, and John Doe in Seven were unbelievably complex and interesting to try and figure out mentally. However there really isn't enough information about these characters to give them a TRUE roll of the dice in trying to figure out their psyche. I also really liked a very unknown movie "H" the main villian, Shin Hynn, i thought he was very interesting too. He survived an abortion attempt and developed an obsession with hating pregnant women. Pretty obvious as to why. He hung on to alot of child-like understandings of things- but was very methodical at the same time. I'm sure this is based on his focused hatred manifesting into absolute perfection of carrying out his intended, self-proclaimed destiny. When delusional like this, this focus, I'm sure, is very effective in it's intent due to the nature of it's absolute purpose to the person's being. It was his one thing he wwas "born to do" as far as he was concerned. That is a powerful driving force.
