Did anyone see the movie "Hard Candy?"?
A brutal revenge kind of movie that sort of combined "Lolita," "Fatal Attraction," "Oleana," and "Swimming with Sharks." SPOILER !!!!! (Don't read any further if you haven't seen the movie and want to.
My questions have to do with the fact that I didn't quite get the end. Who did the girl know, who did she watch die, and what did that have to do with the guy? Why did the guy feel so compelled to kill himself with the ex-girlfriend coming over? At that point the girl didn't even have a weapon, so why didn't the guy just knock her out (or kill her even) and ignore the ex at the door? For that matter, if one were just castrated, wouldn't one be completely incapacitated?

I had a feeling the castration was a hoax, all throughout, but when he escaped, he found bloody towels in the area (which obviously could be part of the hoax), and he could barely walk. The clip he found could have been part of a castration procedure. But I'll accept the fact that it was a hoax merely because he was able to get around.
However, the idea that Jeff would kill himself because he saw a friend murder one of Haley's friends (and, presumably, Haley did the same thing to this friend and watched him committ suicide too) is really a stretch. Again, Jeff could have knocked out (or killed) Haley, and simply ignored his ex Janelle as he straightened out everything Haly had done. Since his genitalia was intact, he wouldn't have to explain this to anybody. Obviously, though, I missed stuff and I'll have to watch it again.

Sorry for posting above twice. There's another problem. After Jeff escaped from the "operation table," and after Haley tasered him, and she had him set up on the chair in the kitchen with the noose around his neck, she told him one reason he should hang himself was because he had no testicles. If the whole thing was a hoax, wouldn't he know that at that point?

You really need to watch the movie again. The man was a pedophile, who watched his friend kill the girl's friend. He killed himself out of guilt & the catch-22 the girl put him. He'd be exposed & turned in for his crime as a pedophile & accessory to murder. The woman who came over a couple of times & was curious who the girl was & they spoke a few times at the door was just the man's neighbor. The girl did not actually castrate him, it was an elaborate hoax that she pulled off to make it look & feel like she had, but he killed himself with his balls intact.
Again, a strong, engaging movie with powerful acting & heart pounding suspense, but please watch it again & see the story unfold again correctly.
