What do the vibrant colors in the Amelie movie mean?

I know in every scence there's something red... I think. I havnt seen the movie yet I'm just wondering if anyone knows the significance behind the colors.

Well, the cinematography in the movie seems to be pretty literal, the colors and special effects depict the general and particular emotions felt by Amelie.

I'm not sure if there was particular emphasis on red, but obviously that is a color most closely associated with passion and love. The colors throughout the film are very saturated, which I think seem to match the fresh and quirky way in which Amelie views the world.
