Why are people naive when it comes to books into movies?!

Why are people naive when it comes to books into movies?
example harry potter;.
im just wondering why people havent learned from the first few movies. also, most books that get turned into a movie have stuff altered... and people are still suprised... a bit naive i think. if people havent realized that stuff is going to be left out and/or changed, then i am seriously worried. if people know its going to be altered then why do they complain/ act so suprised? i honestly dont get it.

Some people don't stop to think how LONG a movie like the latest Harry Potter would be if they put every single word of the book up on the screen.
I've never seen a single book-to-movie adaptation yet that hasn't had to leave a LOT of the source material out for the sake of economy and practicality. Even Gone With The Wind isn't all up there.
