Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix?!

Question:

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix?

What do you think about the movie?

It was disappointing...
So many scenes were missing from the book...
I know they can't put all the book in the movie...
And the 5th book is the longest...
But still...

The best thing about it was the special effects...

My favorite new character is Nymphadora Tonks...
She's really cool...

Answers:

yes, it was disappointing, but we have to give credit to the people behind the movie (specially the scriptwriters and director david yates) it isn't easy condensing 870 pages (in hardbound) of a great book into a 2-hour movie. besides, no movie adaptation has ever been true to its book original.

i admit, there were a lot of scenes that were not excluded, however, take into considerations those who haven't read the books nor seen the previous movies. you gotta admit that for them not to have read the books and watched HP 1 to 4 would still "get" OTOP the movie, wouldn't they? as a movie in itself, it was awesome! but i can't blame those who feel disappointed (my husband and i are one of them) having read the book. i was disappointed tonks only have two or three scenes, my husband laments the absence of quidditch and michael gambon's "harsh" interpretation of prof. dumbledore (as opposed to the late richard harris' subtle and more "dumbledore-like" acting), grawp's too computer-generated image look, mcgonagal being stunned, the abrupt ending, etc. etc.

but my final verdict lies on 2 things, actually. when i first read the book, the only scene i would not have wanted excluded was fred and george weasley's great escape. they included that scene however much different from the book. and the other thing was when sirius got killed in the movie, my 8-year old daughter walked up to me and told me she couldn't help herself crying! so, there!
