Harry Potter 5th movie? the occlumency bit.?
You know how Harry has the hearing and how some people don't believe that Harry saw any Death eaters?
Why couldn't they or why DIDN"T they look into Harry's memories like Snape did ?
i know it was to add some exciting conflict to the story but wouldn't it have made more sense to do that? or couldn't they use Veritaserum?

The ministry didn't actually want Harry to go free, they'd rather have him expelled to further discredit him. It's like what Umbridge said, the ministry wanted something negative happen to Harry to shut him up about You-Know-Who's return, but she was the only one who actually did something. And Veritaserum can only be used in very limited situations, like when dealing with major dark wizards, not something used with a case of underage magic....
