I just watched the movie 'Minority Report' and missed the first hour. I have a quick question about it,
Why did the old man set Tom Cruise's character up? Why did he hire the one man to pose as his son's killer? It doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for your answer!

He did it to keep the murder of the Pre-Cogs' mother a secret. The old man is the one that murdered the mother.
