Why is high school musical 1 and 2 so hyped. Sure great movie but why are we buying clothes, posters, and bed covers. And imitating the characters there not real. I'm not hatin i really like the movie but what is going on

I think it's because they didn't expect it to be this big...so they're kinda overdoing it without realizing what's actually going on...
They also may be trying to make it even more popular just to get more and more fans.
