How long after a movie is released does it come out on DVD or video?
The new Harry Potter movie was so good I want to own it on DVD so I wanna start counting the days until it comes out on DVD and/or video.

I agree with the guys above as well. It all depends on how great the movie does in the theaters. Some movies comes out on DVD as early as 3 months while some take longer. movies that have awful box office experience comes out soon that the extremely successful ones. For instance, 300 was successfully and it came out in March, we are still expecting it. It might not even come out until thanksgiving. Also this studios try release it when the demand will be high. Your harry potter movie will probably not come out until black friday this year or a couple week before christmas so that people can use it as christmas presents. -- This is a simple strategy to boost sales. Another example/reason is that the movie might not come out until the following year when the sequel is scheduled to be release. I think its a way to refresh your memory for the up coming installment.
