A&E version or movie version?!

Question:

A&E version or movie version?

Okay those of you have seen both chime in. If you have not seen the A&E version and think the movie is the bomb check out the A&E then get back to me. Pride and Prejudice on A&E is perfection. Jane Austen is such a great writer and like Dickens her characters are so well written the more you see them the more you love or hate them. But you can't do it in two hours. I mean come on. Watching the relationship develop over time is half the joy in the story. But in the movie Liz and Darcy meet and 10 minutes later they are hooked up. It looses to much of the terrific story in my opinion! True the A&E is six hours long but trust me it is so great you hardly notice it. So I say the best adaptation ever of Pride and Prejudice is the 1995 production! What do you say?

Answers:

The A&E version is still my favorite. Colin Firth was excellent as Mr. Darcy (and he's a cutie, so that didn't hurt). I just think the longer mini series has more time for character development and does more justice to the book. It's kind of like all the Harry Potter fanatics complaining about how the movies leave so much out. Well, when you've only got 2+ hours to tell a story that takes many hours or days to read, obviously many things will be missing. In my opinion there is no comparing the 2. The mini series wins out everytime.
