Since movies are now on DVD and movie soundtracks are on CD's because movies use!

Question:

Since movies are now on DVD and movie soundtracks are on CD's because movies used to be on tape, why not both?

the movie and the soundtrack on the same DVD or add in another DVD with the movie sountrack, is the movie industry robbing us blind or what?

I mean DVD's keep offering "extra special features" but the regular joe is still stuck having to look for the dang needle in a haystack soundtrack

That's not what I asked about, I mean if i'm gonna buy a movie and tapes are going out of style anyway and cd's and DVD's are basically on the same disk, and DVD movies are always touted with having extra features couldn't this just be another feature?

There is no /or soundtrack cd's would have to be more expensive, i'm talking about eliminating the need for having soundtrack CD's to begin with, having the soundtrack on the DVD. CD's only cost 3cents to make, if the movie companies want to push the soundtrack beforehand I don't see how the 3 cents is gonna go any higher

I mean the logic before was that movies were on tape yet didn't do audio and CD's were the new thing so you could just have your audio on CD and video on VHS

Answers:

A DVD won't play in your CD player so that wouldn't work. You could only listen to it through your TV setup. They would have to put a separate CD with the set which they could do but why would they when they can make more money by selling the soundtrack separate. It's not robbing us. They don't owe us a soundtrack CD and it's not good business sense to give one away.

Edit: CD's and DVD's look the same but they are not the same. Both store the data with millions of microscopic indents but on DVD's they are much smaller so a DVD can hold much more data and a DVD player has to have a different laser to read the data. Many DVD players can read a CD but a CD player cannot read a DVD. So they cannot just put them both on the same disc unless you want to use your TV setup to listen to the soundtrack which most people do not want.
