Question:

Re: Harry Potter? Are people who read the books too critical of the movies? (Possible Spoiler)?

I have read all of the books at least 10 times and my favorite book is Book #5. I went to see the movie last night. I was very excited about this movie, because it's my favorite book and it brings everyone back together. (Like Lupin and Sirius and Mad Eye) However, It seems like the movie really fast forwards through the book and is more of a summary of the book rather than a complete story based on the book. Am I alone on this one? Am I being too critical because I have read the book so much or am I justified in feeling this way. ? I am still anxious to see if they are able to give book # 6 the movie it deserves.

Answers:

My opinion... The Order of the Phoenix is another great installment in the Harry Potter made for movie series. As the movies go, this one is the tops. The special effects and the screen play are fabulous. However, SO much of the book was left out, that fans of the novels will be left wanting just a bit more time and time again. I was especially disappointed in the Fred and George's exit. It just didn't quite have the grand flavor of complete anarchy that one might expect. Further, the OWL tests were a disappointment. It is NOT what the books portray. Understandably the movie is going to have to be a very cut down version of a book that when read aloud takes 26 1/2 hours cover to cover. There was just TOO much to squeeze into one 2.5 hour movie.
